Innovative.
Energetic. Motivated. A Multi-Skilled and Dynamic Individual. A Strong
Communicator. Personable. Experienced.
Dependable. Always Delivers. These are just a few of the words and phrases
clients and colleagues have used to describe Derek McClintock.
With more than 15 years in the video
production industry, Derek has tackled almost every area of production from
Project Manager to Video Editor and boasts extensive experience in everything
from project conception to the final deliverable.
In 2003, he founded Images in Motion, a unique company based in Ottawa, Ontario that
specializes in video and New Media productions and
audio visual presentation services (A/V). Images
in Motion also offers full equipment and crew rentals and will take on
complete productions with the client as the producer.
For the past seven years, Derek McClintock
and his team at Images in Motion have
built an impressive roster of clients including: the Conservative Party, New Democratic Party, Liberal Party, NHL’s Ottawa Senators, Medical Council of Canada, Bauer and Microsoft. Derek himself
traveled across the country with Prime Minister Stephen Harper during
his 2006, 2008 & 2011 election tours
as his personal teleprompter operator and has used his extensive knowledge and
exceptional skill working as a camera operator, editor, lighting operator,
sound technician, production manager and producer to do everything from shoot
depositions for law firms to news features for
media powerhouses such as CTV, CBC and
Global, from the Westnile
news feature for Global to Emissions Testing for The Weather Network to Operating Press conferences for the NHL Hockey Team Ottawa Senators.
During his career Derek has had no trouble
navigating the often hectic and always demanding video production industry in
part due to his training in Interpersonal Communications at Carleton University (2000-2001) and TV
Broadcasting at Loyalist College
(1994-1997). But his journey to owning and operating his own business has also
played an extensive role in sharpening his skills and developing his aptitude
for client services.
Derek’s keen interest and passion for the
industry was sparked in 1994 after winning a Skills Canada Competition in
Communication Technology in Brockville, Ontario and
working at the city’s local television station, Brockville Cable 10. Post-Secondary training in the industry soon
followed and upon his graduation, Derek wasted no time immersing himself in his
work, landing a job in 1997 with Partner’s
Film Company in Toronto, an organization recognized as one of the largest
commercial and music video production companies in Canada. It is during this
time that Derek became accustomed to handling big budgets and high broadcast
quality projects for big clients such as: Coca-Cola, CBC, CTV, MasterCard, Canadian
songstress Sarah McLachlan. Derek’s hard work at Partner’s Film Company allowed him to quickly move up in the
company, eventually becoming Production Manager before moving on in 1999.
His already extensive list of experience
allowed Derek to land the position of Production Service Manager at a large
Ottawa-based production company where he would spend the next four years production
managing/producing different types of programming for the Canadian Broadcast
Corporation (CBC), Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) and Export Development
Corporation (EDC).
By 2003, Derek was ready to set up shop on
his own and Images In Motion made its
debut. The young company has been hard at work ever since providing film, video
and audio-visual services to many different types of clients, large and small.
Derek’s broad knowledge and high skill levels with all camera formats, editing
software, sound recording, lighting concepts and experience in teleprompting
make him a highly sought after commodity in everything from a small corporate
video production to a large scale audio/visual show production. But it is his
dedication to service and his promise to make his relationships with clients a
priority that ensures his success both professionally and personally in the
years to come.
Derek lives in Orleans,
Ontario with his wife Paula and two children Cole and Kallie.
